Day 1 – Cusco – Cloud Forest – Pilcopata

Morning
• Pick-up from Cusco (or airport) and scenic drive toward the Amazon Basin.
• Visit Ninamarca pre-Inca tombs and the Paucartambo colonial town for cultural insight.
• Leisure stop for photos of canyon and mountain landscapes.

Afternoon
• Enter the Manu Cultural Zone and descend into the lush Cloud Forest.
• Easy nature walk to see:
- Colorful tanager birds
- Orchids
- Possibly the Cock-of-the-Rock (Peru’s national bird)

Evening
• Arrive in Pilcopata or similar lodge.
• Relaxation time with welcome drink or coffee.
• Optional: short night walk to spot frogs, insects, and nocturnal wildlife.

Overnight: Cloud Forest Lodge

Day 2 – Pilcopata – Atalaya – Lowland Lodge

Morning
• Drive to Atalaya Port.
• Leisure boat ride on the Alto Madre de Dios River, ideal for gentle sightseeing.
• Arrive at lowland eco-lodge, check-in, rest.

Afternoon
• Slow-paced forest walk with a naturalist guide:
- Learn about medicinal plants
- See giant trees (cedar, kapok)
- Look for monkeys, butterflies, toucans

Evening
• Sunset by the river or hammock time.
• Optional: Night walk for caiman and nocturnal mammals.

Overnight: Manu Lowland Lodge

Day 3 – Wildlife Viewing & Local Culture

Early Morning
• Soft adventure: visit a clay lick to see parrots and parakeets feeding (easy walk, quiet observation).
• Return for a relaxed breakfast.

Late Morning
• Cultural visit to a local Machiguenga or native community (varies by operator):
- Handicrafts demonstration
- Traditional musical instruments
- Understanding daily life and farming

Afternoon
• Leisure canoe outing on an oxbow lake (if accessible):
- Gentle paddling
- Look for hoatzins, herons, turtles

Evening
• Relax at the lodge; stargazing if skies are clear.
• Farewell dinner with local flavors.

Overnight: Manu Lowland Lodge

Day 4 – Return to Cusco

Morning
• Breakfast and boat back to Atalaya.
• Scenic drive returning to Cusco through cloud forest viewpoints.
